Charles Power is the Editor-in-Chief of the Employment Law Practical Handbook. He is also a partner in the Employment and Industrial Relations department of Holding Redlich, and has practised in employment and industrial relations since 1992.

Charles has a strong practice representing employers in all aspects of employment and industrial law and is accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a workplace relations specialist. He is a member of the advisory board to the Centre for Employment & Labour Relations Law, the University of Melbourne and the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Charles is a former associate to a Senior Deputy President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and a former adviser to a Federal Government Minister. Charles has Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degrees, both from Monash University. He was the joint winner of the Industrial Arbitration Prize in 1992.

Andrew Douglas is a Principal in the Employment + Industrial Relations team at Macpherson + Kelley Lawyers.

Andrew is the Editor-in-Chief of the Health & Safety Handbook, a national health & safety loose-leaf service for health & safety practitioners and small to medium size enterprises, and writes on workplace law issues such as industrial relations, employment law, health & safety, equal opportunity, privacy, surveillance and workers’ compensation for both print and electronic media.

Andrew is also a National Director of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Chairman of Awards Victoria, as well as an honorary fellow of the Safety Institute of Australia. Andrew guest lectures at the University of Victoria and VIOSH and speaks at various seminars and conferences on Industrial Relations, Employment and Health & Safety. Angela Godfrey, director of Angela Godfrey and Associates, has over 18 years of successful and diversified Human Resource (HR) generalist experience gained in medium to large blue chip organisations. Industries worked in include financial services, telecommunications, television and health.

More recently she worked as a HR Manager for Aviva Australia, and was responsible for the development of many of the policies and procedures that supported Aviva’s compliance with employment law. Prior to working for Aviva, she held strategic and operational HR management roles with Motorola, FOXTEL and the State Superannuation Board where she implemented business-focused HR solutions.

Paul is a partner of Holding Redlich’s Employment and Commercial Dispute Resolution department. He is a registered Migration Agent, specialising in business, investment and skilled migration.

Paul previously worked with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Canberra. He also acted for the DIAC in numerous Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Court and High Court matters while he was a lawyer with two national law firms who were on DIAC’s panel of legal advisers.

Paul is a member of the Migration Institute of Australia (Executive Committee Member) and the Australian Institute of Administrative Law.

Siobhan Mulcahy

Siobhan is a Director of Praxis Advisory Group and EMA Workplace Lawyers. She has had 10 years experience in various roles in industrial relations, and her experience in the public and private sectors spans a wide range of industries including construction, maintenance, labour hire, contact centre, manufacturing, tertiary education, resources, health and the finance/insurance sector. The focus of Siobhan’s work has been industrial relations, human resources and major project strategy & co-ordination.

Prior to joining EMA Workplace Lawyers, Siobhan was a Director of The Grey Group, and worked as a Senior Associate at DLA Phillips Fox providing advice and assistance to a broad variety of clients on all aspects of employment and industrial law including advocacy and running complex, multi-faceted litigation. This experience is complemented by her work in the employment and industrial law practices of two labour law firms and time spent as a National Industrial Officer for the national office of a trade union.

Henry Skene

Henry Skene is the head of Arnold Bloch Leibler’s workplace advisory practice and has over 10 years’ experience in workplace relations. Henry specialises in workplace relations strategy, with particular emphasis on delivering value through workplace reform. His practice contemplates all aspects of workplace and employment law, including workplace change, enterprise bargaining, dispute resolution and workplace litigation. He has acted in many of the largest and most complex matters in this field.

Henry has acted for major employers in workplace litigation in Federal and State jurisdictions, and regularly appears before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission. Stephen is a member of Holding Redlich’s Commercial Dispute Resolution and Employment & Industrial Relations practice groups. Stephen also acts for employers in both unfair dismissal claims and unfair contract claims held at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales. He also acts for employers in respect of complaints of unlawful discrimination, including in respect of issues concerning flexible work arrangements and disability discrimination. He also assists employers with WorkCover investigations and prosecutions.

Lisa Klug is an experienced lawyer, manager and trainer with excellent analytical skills and an understanding of workplace dynamics. She has experience in many different workplace cultures and their particular issues, having worked at Universities, government agencies, private law firms and local government. As a consultant at Worklogic Pty Ltd she has used this experience to provide a wide range of services to clients including:

  • Complex investigations into allegations of bullying and other workplace misconduct;
  • Workplace reviews to identify workplace issues to be addressed before they escalate into a complaint or legal action;
  • Group training in a range of topics including effective communication, negotiation and mediation skills;
  • Large project reviews regarding the examination of files against employment processes including suggested recommendations for improving processes.

Lisa started her career as a litigation lawyer in major commercial law firms where she was principally involved in insurance litigation and advising on workplace-related legislation. She developed high level analytical and conflict resolution skills while conducting trials and negotiated settlements which involved tight time-limits and challenging issues and behaviours.

Later she managed the knowledge management service in a commercial law firm, gaining first-hand experience of workplace issues including accommodating flexible working arrangements, return to work after maternity leave, performance management, and staff retention.

Lisa is also an effective and engaging trainer and enjoys preparing and providing training programs and papers on current workplace issues for employers. Lisa is committed to excellent client service and strives to work with clients to resolve complex disputes and provide the best possible outcomes before the problem escalates.
